National Buy A KID A Book Day was created to bring attention to the lack of emphasis in so many struggling inner-city communities to rebuld literacy amongst our children. This day will give anyone an opportunity to buy a child a book. Many schools are experiencing a high number of students that drop out because of poor grades and low reading skills.
We would like to eventually make this a nationally and internationally recognized day as well as extend it to National Buy A KID A Book Week and National Buy A KID A Book Month. The Urban Literacy Project, Inc. is a newly formed California non-profit organization that will launched the National Buy A KID A Book Program.
National Buy a Kid a Book Day was created to promote literacy within inner-city communities. We celebrate by taking one day out the year to buy a kid a book for the day.
